The Opportunity:
An internationally established luxury interior design practice is seeking an experienced Design Director to join its Hong Kong team, leading the design and delivery of exceptional residential, branded residential and luxury hospitality projects across Asia Pacific.

The practice has developed an international reputation for creating highly considered interiors, with an approach that draws on architecture, cultural influences, sophisticated materials and bespoke craftsmanship.

With ongoing projects across Australia, Japan, Vietnam, China, Malaysia and Singapore, this position offers exposure to a diverse portfolio of prestigious developments and the opportunity to work alongside an accomplished international design team.

The Role:
The Design Director will take a leading role in the creative development, coordination and delivery of luxury interior design projects, working closely with the practice's Principals to ensure exceptional design quality at every stage.

The position will involve directing multidisciplinary project teams, developing sophisticated design solutions and overseeing the progression of projects from early concepts through detailed design and construction.
The successful candidate will be an experienced, hands-on design leader with the ability to balance creative ambition with technical resolution, effective team coordination and project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and development of luxury private residential, branded residential and hospitality interiors across multiple international projects.
• Establish and develop strong design concepts that respond to the architecture, context and individual character of each project.
• Oversee interior architecture, interior design and FF&E teams, ensuring the successful integration of all design elements.
• Guide projects through concept design, schematic design, detailed design, technical documentation and construction-stage coordination.
• Direct the development of space planning, interior layouts, material palettes, bespoke detailing and architectural finishes.
• Review and approve design presentations, drawings, specifications and technical documentation to maintain design consistency and quality.
• Collaborate closely with the Principals to translate the overall creative vision into fully developed design proposals.
• Manage design programmes, team workloads, project milestones and deliverables across multiple concurrent projects.
• Coordinate with architects, consultants, contractors and specialist suppliers to ensure effective design development and technical resolution.
• Attend project meetings and design presentations, supporting communication with clients and project stakeholders.
• Provide design oversight during construction, reviewing samples, mock-ups, shop drawings and site-related design matters.
• Identify and resolve design challenges throughout the project lifecycle while protecting the integrity of the original concept.
• Mentor and guide design teams, encouraging creativity, technical excellence and attention to detail.
• Collaborate with colleagues across international studios to support project coordination and consistent design standards.

Experience & Qualifications:

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Interior Design, Interior Architecture or Architecture.
• Significant experience within internationally recognised luxury interior design practices, including leadership of complex, high-value projects.
• An outstanding portfolio of luxury residential, branded residential and/or high-end hospitality interiors.
• Strong conceptual design ability and a sophisticated understanding of architecture, spatial composition, materials and bespoke detailing.
• Demonstrated experience managing projects from initial design concepts through detailed documentation and construction.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary design teams and coordinate complex project requirements.
• Excellent knowledge of luxury materials, finishes, furniture, lighting and FF&E.
• Strong technical understanding of interior construction, documentation and design coordination.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines and design deliverables effectively.
• Excellent communication, design presentation and team leadership skills.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp and relevant design software. Revit experience would be advantageous.
• Experience working on international projects, particularly across China and the wider Asia Pacific region, would be beneficial.
